Contests:
A contest to give Ruth Sutton a medieval name will be sponsored by Ruth Sutton. Entries are to be sent to her before May 15th, 1976. Ruth is not partial to names like "Ruth the ..." or "Ruth of the ..." unless they are really good. She belongs to House Hellbender and is married to David the Ironlivered. The reason Ruth is yet unnamed is that she wants a truly unique name that is musical (but not too) and perhaps French. The prize will be a hand-made leather pouch.
Ruth is also sponsoring a heraldry contest. A prize will be awarded for the best design for a personal device for Ruth. The device may be linked with the Name Ruth Contest but it is not requirement. Ruth prefers gold over silver and her favorite color is green. She likes colorful designs.
There will be a Darts competition. Please bring your own darts if you have them. We can provide only a couple of sets.
An embroidery contest will be held and the subject will be Fancy Handkerchief. Cloth squares will be provided as well as floss. The work is to be done at the tourney. Extra lace, beads, ruffles may be brought from home. But remember, we are judging the handkerchief as a whole, not fancy trimmings.
The cooking contest will have two categories: decorated French Pastries and a dish made with cheese. Recipes will be required to accompany the entry to insure authenticity.
The winner of the Lists will be named Champion of Isles for the next year.
The membership of Isles is lacking in extensive overnight facilities (floor space). So please contact an Isles member and make a floor reservation as soon as possible or contact the acting seneschal Amadea da Strada Dragonessa.
