Come join the Barony of the Angels and the Barony of Dreiburgen in presenting Medieval Marketplace.

Yuletide gifts abound! Come find the perfect gift for that special lord or lady! Medieval Marketplace, sponsored by the Barony of the Angels and the Barony of Dreiburgen, will showcase Caid's finest merchants with a day-long event featuring all things string (the Fiber Playday), fighting and socializing.

The day’s fighting will consist of both heavy and rapier melee activities. Heavy weapons combat will consist of 3-person teams grouped together to form 2 sides for a series of battles. This will be a good chance to get a lot of fun fighting in! There will also be rapier melee activities.

Fiber Playday: Come sit under the trees, watch the competitions, play with fibers, work on an unfinished project and maybe learn a new skill. We'll have informal classes, books, hands-on projects, and more.

The finest merchants in the realm will feature arts, crafts, supplies and one-of-a-kind gifts, a real shopper’s delight without all the stress and check-out lines of real-world Black Friday.

Although there is no Youth Combat, there will be youth activities include a scavenger hunt!

SCHEDULE OF THE DAY

  • Site Opens: 8:00 AM
  • Tear-down Commences: 4:00 PM
  • Site Closes: 5:00 PM sharp (Privies Locked)

From Their Excellencies Peter and Gabrielle

Saturday morning dawned as a typical Fall morning in Southern California - blue sky, a few clouds and a brisk temp of 52 degrees. Then up came the sun and we were off and running for Medieval Marketplace.

The event was very well attended with 14 armored fighters, 8 rapier fighters and approximately 15 merchants. Lady Arianna Foxford ran a very successful "Showcase" Auction which included only donations from the merchants.

The donational luncheon was totally awesome! Lavinia Letterford from Dreiburgen and her crew provided made-to-your-order sandwiches, hard-boiled eggs, pickles, potato salad, chips and cookies - Thank you so much!

The merchants seemed busy most of the day with SCAers and local people alike. We saw one lady who was obviously from the neighborhood come through early in the day and then return with two of her friends, so word travelled fast.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the people of Dreiburgen who worked with us on this event, especially Master Gulliver Blackrune, Mistress Vivienne Duval, Lord Caspian Blackrune, Baroness Fionna de Buchanan, Baron Bryce ap Morgan, Lady Aidrean na Catt Bainean, Mistress Mary Dedwydd verch Gwallter, Baron Ciaran Blackrune, Baroness Jumana al-Zarqa and so many others who made this such a wonderful event.

We would also like to thank THL Fu Ching Lan and Lady Corinna de la Mare for setting up the Angels area, and Lady Arianna Foxford for her work as co-event steward and running the Showcase Auction. Your hard work is truly appreciated.

We look forward to seeing everyone at Yule next week! -- Peter and Gabrielle
