Founded: 9/6/1970 as a Barony Modern Location: Los Angeles County, minus the territories formed from it.

The Barony of The Angels is ruled by Their Excellencies Peter and Gabrielle.

Overview

Meaning: The name translates the contemporary modern name of the area from Spanish to English. The historical name of the area in Spanish is much longer - El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Angeles de Porciúncula.

Area: Established as the Greater Los Angeles Basin, then expanded to include Santa Barbara as the dual barony of Angels and Isles, until Isles broke off on its own again. Currently it is the original territory minus the territories formed from it (Dreiburgen, Lyondemere, Gyldenholt, Altavia, and Heatherwyne).

Blazon: Gules, a standing seraph affronty proper, winged Or, haloed of a laurel wreath proper.

Populace Badge: (Fieldless) a set of seraph's wings Or.

Heraldic officer's title: Seraph The herald's title is derived from the major charge of the arms.

Awards:

• Order of the Seraphic Star (1st baronial order in SCA)
• Order of Athena, for service to the Barony
• Order of Apollo, for excellence in the Arts & Sciences in the Barony
• Order of the Seraph, for excellence in the martial arts in the Barony
• Order of the Cherubim, given to children for Baronial service
• Order of the Soggy Maunche, given for service in the kitchen on behalf of the Barony (no longer given)
• Order of the Muddy Cloak, for courtesy to others (no longer given)
